When we say that we welcome you, we mean welcome- and we mean you. You weekly Mass-goers, you once-a-year-ers, you funerals only, you Daily Mass attender, we welcome you. You who are disabled or ill, or worried about illness, we welcome you. Shy people and introverts, and you extrovert, we welcome you. Whatever direction you lean politically, socially, fiscally, theologically, we welcome you. You who wouldn't want to be anywhere else on a Christmas, you who haven't set foot in a sanctuary in years, you former Catholics, wounded ex-Catholics, drifted-away Catholics, one-bad-homily away from leaving forever Catholics, you who is trying hard to remain Catholic, you who are considering joining the Church- we welcome you. Those are here to please their parents or partners, we welcome you No matter how short or long your travel to get here, you are welcome. You who are grieving, you who have lost loved ones and income and stability, you who feel a little guilty about coming through 2022 relatively unscathed, we welcome you. You who are feeling your faith slipping away, you who are growing in your faith, we welcome you. You who senses that God is calling you to something new, you who avoids answering the phone when God calls, you who is exploring your special calling, we welcome you. We may or we may not know you, but we welcome you, and we rejoice that you are with us today. We hope the time you spend with us today in worship is exactly what your soul needs, and we hope you’ll pray for our parish as our parish prays for you.
